Getting to Waterfront
Waterfront Private Hospital is on the north side of Edinburgh, at 1 Waterfront Park, Edinburgh EH5 1SD, in Granton close to the shore of the Firth of Forth. Parking is free on site and the building has full disabled access.
Some of our patients travel from elsewhere in Scotland for their consultation and surgery. This page covers the practical side: getting here, the day of your operation and getting home safely.
How to get here
Use the postcode EH5 1SD for satnav and map apps.
By car
Head for Granton on the north side of the city. Telford Road, Ferry Road and Crewe Road South meet at the Crewe Toll roundabout, a three-minute drive from the hospital. Parking is free in the car park at the back of the hospital, and the Morrisons car park nearby is free for up to three hours. Directions to the car park
By train
Edinburgh Waverley, in the city centre, is the main station for trains from across Scotland. From Waverley the hospital is about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi.
By bus
The Waterfront Broadway stop is a one to two minute walk from the hospital. Lothian Buses routes 9, 22, 24 and 38 stop there.
Getting dropped off
If someone is bringing you, your driver can usually park on site or wait for you. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to your consultations.
The day of your operation
Waterfront is a day-surgery hospital, so you go home on the day of your operation.
Before the day
Your pre-operative assessment is usually done by phone, so it does not need an extra journey. We will tell you what to bring. If your procedure is under local anaesthetic you can eat as normal; for a general anaesthetic or sedation, your admission letter gives your fasting times.
Arriving
Arrive one hour before your surgery, at the time in your admission letter, in comfortable, loose clothing. If you are having a general anaesthetic, you will have your own private en-suite room.
Going home
After a general anaesthetic or sedation, a responsible adult (18 or over) must take you home by car or taxi, not public transport, and stay with you overnight.
If you are travelling a long way
If home is a long way from Edinburgh, a little planning makes the day easier.
Staying nearby
Some people prefer to stay in Edinburgh the night before an early start. If you are a long drive from home, ask your surgeon at your consultation whether to stay the night after surgery too. Your responsible adult needs to be with you that night wherever you stay.

Planning your visits
Your first consultation can be virtual, followed by an in-person assessment here before any surgery. After cosmetic surgery, nurse reviews and appointments with your surgeon are included for 12 months, and some follow-up can be done remotely when that is appropriate, so you need not travel for every check.
From patients who travelled to us
I made an initial consultation with Mr Kazem Nassar booking on line which was very easy. I found Kazem to be very friendly and approachable. At the consultation it was confirmed that I most likely had a basal cell carcinoma on my chest. The treatment options were fully explained to me and I made an appointment to have it removed a week later. It was removed yesterday and I found it to be a totally painless experience. Kazem ensured the area was totally numb before proceedinding and I was totally at ease throughout.
The staff are all extremely welcoming and friendly and the facitities are very modern and spotless.
I have had no pain since.
I would recommend the Waterfront to anyone without hesitation and I drove down from Aberdeen to have the surgery.
Dr Aldridge was very accommodating as I had to travel from quite a distance. The treatment I had was quick and easy with minimal scarring and I was happy with the results.
