The consultant you choose is the consultant who looks after you.
Waterfront is a consultant-led private hospital in Edinburgh, founded in 2023 by Mr Awf Quaba and Mr Omar Quaba. We offer plastic surgery, skin surgery and procedural dermatology, soft tissue hand surgery, and non-surgical aesthetic medicine — and within these specialities, your care stays with the consultant you chose, from your first appointment to your final review.
Our latest reviews
More than 450 patients have reviewed Waterfront on Trustpilot, giving us a 4.9 out of 5 rating. What patients return to most often is the experience of their care — being put at ease during the consultation, feeling well looked after throughout their journey, and the way the team handle the small things as carefully as the surgery itself.
What makes us different?
Founded, owned, and run by surgeons, Waterfront was founded by Mr Awf Quaba and Mr Omar Quaba and remains owned and run by them. The people responsible for the hospital are those who operate it, which means the hospital answers to its patients, not to shareholders or investors.
No conveyor belt. The consultant who assesses you at your first appointment is the consultant who plans your surgery, performs it, and reviews you afterwards. There is no rotation between team members. No handover. No patient coordinator is standing between you and the surgeon, making decisions about your care.
Aftercare you can rely on. Recovery is when patients need access most, and where most providers fall short. Routine post-operative care — wound checks, suture removal — is delivered by our own nursing team, working under the direction of your consultant. For anything beyond routine or where you would like to be seen by your consultant, our nursing team will arrange this with them. The surgeon who operated on you remains responsible for your recovery.
Focused specialisation We focus on a defined group of specialities chosen because they share a common approach: consultant-delivered, day-case or outpatient, with continuity of care from first appointment to final review. Every consultant on our team is on the GMC Specialist Register in their field of practice.
Purpose-built for what we do Our facility in Granton was designed specifically for outpatient and day-case surgery — equipped for the procedures we perform, with a calm, considered environment that reflects how we want patients to experience their care. Free parking, full disabled access, and views over the Forth estuary.

FAQ for our Private Edinburgh Hospital
About Our Hospital
What makes Waterfront Private Hospital different from other private hospitals in Edinburgh? Waterfront was founded in 2023 by Mr Awf Quaba and Mr Omar Quaba and remains owned and run by them. The consultant you meet at your first appointment is the consultant who plans your surgery, performs it, and reviews you afterwards. We focus on a defined group of specialties — plastic surgery, skin surgery and procedural dermatology, soft tissue hand surgery, and non-surgical aesthetic medicine — and every consultant on our team is on the GMC Specialist Register in the field they practise.
Who established Waterfront Private Hospital? Waterfront was established by consultant plastic surgeons Mr Awf Quaba and Mr Omar Quaba. They founded the hospital to offer a deliberate alternative to the high-volume private cosmetic surgery model, where consultants visit and patient relationships are managed by coordinators. Waterfront remains owned and run by them.
When did Waterfront Private Hospital open? We opened in September 2023.
Where is Waterfront Private Hospital located? Our hospital is situated on the waterfront in Granton, North Edinburgh, with views of the Forth estuary. This serene location complements our patient-focused approach to care.
Our Services
What specialities does Waterfront Private Hospital offer? We offer aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, skin surgery and procedural dermatology, soft tissue hand surgery, and non-surgical aesthetic medicine. We are deliberately focused — we do not offer specialties outside this group — because a focused practice allows us to deliver consultant-led care with continuity from first appointment to final review.
Do you perform aesthetic plastic surgery? Yes. Our aesthetic plastic surgery is delivered by consultants on the GMC Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery, all members of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). See our Cosmetic Surgery section for procedure details.
What types of hand surgery do you perform? We specialise in soft tissue hand surgery, including treatment for Dupuytren’s contracture, trigger finger, ganglion cysts, and carpal tunnel syndrome, all delivered in our purpose-built surgical facilities.
Do you treat skin cancer? Yes, we offer comprehensive care for skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Our consultants have extensive experience in skin cancer management.
What non-surgical treatments do you offer? We provide a range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments including Botox injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and other skin rejuvenation treatments. All are performed to the same exacting standards as our surgical procedures.
Patient Information
Do you offer free consultations? No. Our consultations are clinical assessments with a consultant plastic surgeon — they have genuine clinical value, and we charge for them accordingly. Charging also helps us look after the patients who have already decided that quality of care matters most, by ensuring our consultants’ time is given to patients who have thought carefully about their choice rather than to general enquiries. If you would like to learn about procedures and our approach before booking, our free AI aesthetic guide is available without a booking or any personal details.
Can Waterfront Private Hospital treat children? No, we currently treat adult patients only (18 and over). Our services are tailored specifically to provide specialised care for this age group.
Does the hospital accept insurance patients? At this time, we exclusively accept self-funding patients. This allows us to focus entirely on your needs without the constraints imposed by insurance protocols. However, we are working towards accommodating insurance patients in the future.
What are typical waiting times for consultations and surgeries? Waiting times vary by consultant. For some of our consultants, a first consultation can be arranged within 1 to 2 weeks. For others, particularly those with longer-established practices, the wait is typically longer — up to around two months for a consultation, and up to around three months for surgery once a decision to proceed has been made. When you get in touch, we will let you know the current waiting times for the consultants whose specialties match your needs.
What are the parking facilities like at the hospital? We offer ample free parking for our patients and visitors, ensuring convenient access to our facilities without the stress of finding city centre parking.
Is the hospital accessible for disabled patients? Yes, our hospital is fully equipped with disabled access throughout, ensuring all our patients can navigate our facilities with ease.
Are there overnight facilities available for patients? Our hospital primarily focuses on outpatient and day surgery services. We do not currently offer overnight stay facilities.
Appointments and Consultations
How can I book an appointment? You can book a consultation online through our website, or contact us by phone on 0131 376 3785, by email, or through our contact form. Our team is ready to assist you with scheduling your visit.
Do you offer virtual consultations? Yes, for the convenience of our patients, we offer virtual consultations in certain specialities. Please contact us for more details about this service.

What should I bring to my first consultation? Once your consultation is booked, we will send you a pre-consultation questionnaire to complete in your own time — this gathers your medical history and the information your consultant needs in advance, so the time you spend together is focused on you. You are welcome to bring a list of any questions you would like to ask, and you are very welcome to bring a friend or family member with you for support.
Payment and Aftercare
What forms of payment are accepted? We accept various payment methods, including credit/debit cards and bank transfers. We are unable to take cash payments. All payments are required before treatment.
Are payment plans available? We work with several finance providers who can offer payment plans for selected procedures. Please ask our team for details during your consultation.
What aftercare is included in my treatment? All treatments include scheduled follow-up appointments with the consultant who performed your procedure. Routine post-operative care — wound checks, suture removal — is delivered by our nursing team, working under the direction of your consultant. If you have a concern during your recovery, our nurses are your first point of contact and will manage minor and wound-related issues directly. For anything beyond routine, or where you would like to be seen by your consultant, our nursing team will arrange this with them. The surgeon who operated on you remains responsible for your recovery.
How can I provide feedback about my experience? We value your feedback and use it to continuously improve our service. You can share your experience via our website, in person, through our feedback form available at the hospital, or on independent review platforms such as Trustpilot.
