What happens next
From your first call to your final review, this is how treatment at Waterfront works. Every step is with the same consultant, and there is no pressure at any of them.
Enquire
Call us on 0131 376 3785, send a message through the contact form, or try our free, anonymous AI consultation to learn about a procedure first. One of our team will call or email to arrange a consultation at a time that suits you.
A short pre-consultation survey arrives five days before your appointment, so your consultant already knows your history when you meet.
Your consultation
Your consultation lasts 30 to 60 minutes and is with the consultant who would carry out your treatment. It is a clinical assessment, not a sales meeting. Your consultant examines you, takes confidential medical photographs for your record, shows you results of similar procedures, and talks you through the options, including non-surgical ones and whether treatment is right for you at all.
You are welcome to bring someone with you. The consultation fee is £200.
Time to decide
Your written summary and quotation follow by secure email, usually within 7 to 10 days. The quotation is valid for 90 days.
We ask every patient to take at least two weeks to consider: the earliest surgery date we can offer is two weeks after your consultation. If anything is unclear, a second consultation is free. When you are ready, tell us and we will offer you a date.
Booking and preparing
Once you have signed our terms and conditions, your date is confirmed in writing. Payment is due two weeks before surgery, by card or bank transfer; finance options are explained on our pricing pages.
Before surgery you complete a health questionnaire and have a pre-assessment, mostly by phone, at least two weeks before your operation. Blood tests are arranged only if needed. Your admission letter tells you exactly when to arrive and what to bring.
Surgery day
You arrive an hour before your operation, meet your anaesthetist and your consultant, and go to theatre. Waterfront is a day-surgery hospital: you go home the same day with your written aftercare guide.
After a general anaesthetic a responsible adult takes you home and stays with you overnight.
Aftercare and review
Our nursing team is your first point of contact in the early days, with a nurse review in the first week and dressing clinics as needed. Your consultant sees you again once the result has settled.
For twelve months after your treatment, dressing clinics, follow-up appointments and the treatment of any complications are included. The surgeon who operated on you remains responsible for your recovery.
