About the Role
Waterfront Private Hospital is a premium, independent private hospital in Edinburgh, specialising in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, skin surgery, and dermatology. We are known for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a calm, professional, and discreet environment.
We are now seeking an experienced Outpatient Department Nurse with pre-operative assessment duties to join our nursing team. This is a key patient-facing role covering nurse-led outpatient services, pre-operative assessment for elective patients, and post-operative wound care and follow-up.
This role would suit an experienced nurse with a background in plastic or cosmetic surgery who enjoys working autonomously while contributing effectively to the wider clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
The Outpatient Department Nurse will be responsible for a wide range of clinical duties, including:
- Delivering nurse-led outpatient services, including wound care and removal of post-operative sutures
- Undertaking complex and non-complex pre-operative assessments for all patients awaiting elective surgery
- Ensuring patients are fully briefed about their upcoming treatment, including care and instructions after surgery
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised post-operative care
- Administering treatments and medication in line with hospital protocols
- Taking on delegated responsibility for the department during assigned shifts
- Supervising and supporting junior nurses and support staff
- Maintaining accurate patient records and participating in audits and quality improvement
Essential Skills & Experience
- Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in acute services
- Competence and experience in plastic and/or cosmetic surgery
- Experience in wound care
- Competence in suture removal
- Ability to provide nurse-led outpatient services
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider clinical team
- PVG scheme membership (or willingness to obtain) and the right to work in the UK
Highly Desirable
- Experience working in NHS boards
- Experience working in day surgery settings
- Knowledge of providing care to patients after cosmetic surgery
